We provide a range of diagnostic tests in practice for patients and some patients are referred for specialist tests in a hospital or community setting. You may be invited in for tests by your Clinician or you may receive a letter or text asking you to book. It’s important to ensure you book and attend any tests the GP has recommended as these are there to assist with:
- Diagnosis, further treatment or care
- Referral to specialist treatment and care
- Monitoring your ongoing health and wellbeing to ensure the right treatment and care is given to you
- Ensuring your medication is right for you and is working at the doses prescribed

- MRC Breathlessness (for asthma and COPD patients)
- Cervical screening - some patients may be referred for these at an alternative local venue
- Cytosponge (an alternative to a hospital endoscopy procedure)
- ECG - some patients may be referred for these at an alternative local venue
- Peak flow (for asthma and COPD patients) - some patients may be invited to monitor this over a period of time at home with specialist equipment and submit the results back to us
