Our Cytosponge procedure involves swallowing a small pill which collects cells from the oesophagus. Cytosponge aims to screen patients for cancerous or pre-cancerous cells if they have had acid reflux for a long time or are under Barrett’s Surveillance.
Cytosponge is an alternative to endoscopy in secondary care and is offered from our surgery.
The Practice is working with the Cancer Alliance to offer this procedure.
